DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/6 Nov) -- The Duterte Agilas-Goldstar Hardware is set to play three home court games in the resumption of the 2007 Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MBVA) and is looking to end its six-game losing skid and October blues that came along with it.

The Agilas-Goldstar will be looking for its first-ever win against Arthro Kontra Arthritis of Cebu on Nov. 9 at the Davao City Recreation Center with a hope that the victory would be the inaugural step toward curing an early conference debacle.

This Friday’s encounter is this city’s goodwill team’s first home game following a short break that gave the Agilas-Goldstar management a chance to beef up its roster.

During the time off, the Agilas-Goldstar acquired the services of ex-PBL cagers James Scott Razon and Joel Solis.

On Monday, the team signed up former Ozamiz Cotta shooter Melfred Sampilo.

The Agilas-Goldstar Hardware, jointly managed by Davao City Sports Coordinator Christopher “Bong” Go and Goldstar Hardware President Winston Ho, said the acquisition of Razon and Solis aims to provide a much bigger front line; Sampilo, on the other hand, is to beef up the outside shooting unit.

Following Arthro, the Agilas-Goldstar is also hoping for a home win when it faces the Manny Pacquiao Warriors on Nov. 13, 6 p.m. and will meet Misamis Oriental on Nov. 17, 6 p.m. at the same venue for its final game in the classification round.

On Nov. 15, they will battle the wards of the Filipino ring idol in Koronadal City. The Agilas-Goldstar management asked basketball fanatics in this city to support the team by watching the home games.

“While we are still looking for a win in the Mindanao-Visayas Basketball Association, we need your help to drum up Davao City residents' support to the Duterte Agilas-Goldstar Hardware team,” the Agilas-Goldstar management said in a press release emailed to MindaNews.

Go, who is also the executive assistant of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, said they will not be charging entrance fee to the viewing public, courtesy of the mayor.

Taking account on their last three games, the Agilas-Goldstar now has a good winning percentage, much better compared to their first three games. “It’s a strong team. Dili na pwede kumpyansa-an,” said MP Warriors head coach Ramon Pido of the Agilas-Goldstar team.

Backstopping the Agilas-Goldstar Hardware are Eleazer Berami, Wynsjohn Te, Dave Sagad, Arturo Atablanco, Alfredo Gonzaga, Jeff Bajending, Donald Delfin, Greg Delica, Morrison Mejorada and Bob Couzy Ilanga. (Rico Biliran / MindaNews)
